If you now have or want to receive broadband here are some Useful Broadband Links ADSL Broadband is now available in most of Spreyton parish although the areas around Combe and Cullaford may be too far from the Whiddon Down exchange to receive broadband. There are alternative technology's available Email: info@spreyton.org.uk for more info. Most people in Spreyton Village can receive ADSL broadband at 512Kbps. Although those of us on the Bow exchange are receiving ADSL at 3Mbps. For Business users The broadband business grant scheme was launched on Monday 17th November2003. To receive grant aid you need to register either by visiting their Website on www.broadband4devon.org.uk click on REGISTER fill in your name and details and press submit, alternatively you can Phone them on 0845 2702727. The grant covers the cost of installation as well as advice or training on how to make the best use of broadband or how broadband can benefit your business also the grant may possibly cover the cost of some of the monthly charges before the benefits of broadband for your Business cover the cost themselves. It is important to point out that this grant is not available to Farmers who want to use Broadband for there farming activities. You must have some other business unrelated to farming. For more information on this phone me on 01363 82387.
Emergency Plan for the Village The Parish Council has to have a plan for the unlikely event of an emergency. The most likely emergency being the loss of Road links to and from the village or prolonged loss of Electricity supply both due to severe weather conditions (these have happened in the past), or any other emergency affecting our community. We will maintain a list of contacts of people with expertise in the fields of Radio communications, Engineering, Snow clearance and Road maintenance. Should an emergency occur the members of the Parish Council will use there list of contacts together with there knowledge of Spreyton and the prevailing conditions to help alleviate our Community. In an emergency or to find out more about the Emergency Plan contact one of the Parish Councillors, the list of Council members and there contact numbers is on the main Parish Council webpage.
