NEWS FROM THE PARISH COUNCIL

After the gales and storms of winter may I wish you a hale and hearty springtime "Hi" from the hushed and hallowed halls of local government.

Down here at the dark end of the corridors of power we have been reflecting on a big year for Spreyton. As well as being nominated as the Best Kept Village in the county our local tavern is now not only the "only pub in the village" but also the best in the land. The only blot on the landscape is the still ever-present threat of a giant wind-farm on our doorstep but I'll leave that topic for others.

Soon there may be an outbreak of election fever for the much coveted places on the Parish Council. "Well, perhaps not so much a fever as a mild chill if past years are anything to go by We have never been inundated with applications and I wonder if this year will be any different. Notices will have been displayed inviting applicants and the deadline was 4th April. If there are enough candidates the election will be on 3rd May.
